Basically, synthesizing equipment means making it more powerful. If it's a weapon, it'll hit harder. If it's an armor, it'll protect more. All items that you wear can be upgraded in this way.
1 Main Item + 1 Minor Item = Composed Item!
Main Item: This is the item you want to improve.
Minor Item: This is the item you will destroy and gain its Composition Point to improve the main item. It should be the same type with the main item, e.g. one-handed weapons can only be composed with one-handed weapons while armors can only be composed with armors of the same class.
Composed Item: This is the newly composed item, which is newer and better than the main item.

What are Composition Points?
Items have Composition Points, which are added together when two items are composed into a single one. In other words, the Composition Points of item A and B are added together to make a single new item with the combined Composition Points of both original items.
Composition Points are just like character experience points. The more Composition Points your item has, the better its bonus. Sometimes, the item will level up and get higher bonuses. Sometimes, it will just gain more Composition Points towards the next level of bonus. Similarly, each higher level is more difficult to reach than the last.
The levels of main items and the Composition Points required to take them to the next level are listed on the following table. Once you reach a new level, the appropriate amount of Composition Points are deducted from the main item, and the remainder adds to the total for your next level. For example, a +3 main item (requires 240 to level up) is synthesized with a +4 minor item (grants 360 Composition Points). The original +3 item becomes a +4 item with 120 / 720 Composition Points remaining.

Note: 1.You can only use +1~+8 items or Stones to compose items to be +9 or above. Dragonballs are not available to compose items.
2.Locked items can not be composed as minor items.

4.The bonus progress of an item can not be counted in when it is composed as a minor item.

What kind of Bonuses will my item get? What does the +1 mean?
Different types of equipment and weapons gain bonuses depending on what they are. For a quick reference, see the following list. If your main item is a weapon, it will gain physical damage. If your main item is an earring, it will gain magical defense.
Weapon: Physical damage
Bow: Physical damage
Magic Sword: Magic damage
Headgear (Warrior/Archer/Trojan): Physical defense
Taoist Cap: Magic defense
Earring: Magic defense
Necklace: Physical defense, max hit points bonus
Bag: Magic defense, max hit points bonus
Ring: Physical damage
Heavy Ring: Physical damage
Bracelet: Magic damage
Armor: Physical defense, magic defense
Shoes/Boots: Dodging ability
Shield: Physical defense
Remember, a +1 bonus is not actually addition. In other words, it doesn't add +1 to the item's stats, it grants a percentage increase on the item's stats (more like multiplication). So, the +1 on a level 40 item grants much better bonuses than the +1 on a level 25 item.
The +n bonus of an item is not related to the quality of an item (unique, elite, refined, etc.)
Only equipment above level 15 can gain a +n bonus.
Compose Talisman
You can compose talismans to upgrade the bonus level like other equipment.
