[Stories] Wrong Place, Right Time Part 5
Part 5
*Previously*
"But what? The Ninjas were killed so why shouldn't he be?!
The female Trojan stopped and whipped around to face me. "What did you say...?"
***
I cursed myself for letting that slip out. Now what do I say?
"Answer my question," the Trojan demanded.
I stayed silent, praying that this was all just a dream.
"Hello?! Anyone in there?!" The Trojan waved her hand in front of my face angrily. "Theo!"
I roughly grabbed her wrist to stop her hand movement.
"I can hear you," I spat out venomously.
She pulled her hand free, glaring at me. "No need for violence," she said as she punched my arm. Hard. Enough to make me wince slightly, which made her smirk. Okay, so she was no pushover, but I really wanted to wipe that disgustingly smug smile off of her face.
"Maybe you should listen to your own advice, Trojan. Don't piss me off. I don't care who the hell you are--you could be one of the Gods or whatever--just don't make me mad."
"You know," she spoke in a sickly sweet voice, "if you're always that serious, you'll never even get to first base."
Wow. I chuckled humorlessly. "And while I enjoy your company so very much, I would rather get my head bashed in with a large spoon."
"That can be arranged," she smiled.
I sighed. "You are so predictable."
I stared off into space, trying to figure out why the hell I decided to follow her. Oh, right. Jesse. Was she really telling the truth? Was he really still alive? And if he was, why didn't he try to find Griff?
The answer: he simply couldn't; he was dead. Why was I even entertaining the idea that he was still alive? And why was I
hoping that I was wrong?
I began to think. About Jesse and if it was actually possible that he was still alive. I thought about all the things that I've seen him done... Which included not getting killed when attacked by Secondary's of all the Noble Families. This happened about fifty times. An oddly
high number for your average guard.
But was Jesse your average guard? Would you get some prize if you killed him?
And that's when it hit me. Literally. I mean something slammed into my body, shoving me against a tree. I was stunned for a moment but quickly recovered.
That damned Trojan. "What the hell is your problem?!" I yelled marching up to her.
She smiled innocently and said, "I thought you had fallen asleep standing up. So I was trying to wake you."
"You stupid little bi--" she kneed me in the gut before I could get my last word out.
"Come on, Theo. Fight back," she taunted.
I was too angry to think. Too angry to control myself. Too angry to care.
Using my ability to move quicker than any Trojan could, I got behind her. Before she knew what was happening, I grabbed her and slammed her against a tree. The force of it shook the tree violently. I pinned her there with no intention of letting go until I ripped her head off.
"What are you gonna do now, Theo? Kill me?"
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't."
"Because you're not a murderer."
I froze. The person who had answered me wasn't the Trojan in front of me. I turned around.
"Hey kid. Long time no see," he waved.
"...Jesse?"

*Unknown Person's Point of View*
"Well, would you look at that," my partner said, referring to the boy and girl that were standing in the Wind Plains which surrounded Twin City. "What do ya think they're doin'? It's dangerous to be standin' there with their guards down like that. There may be some mean people who are lookin' for some trouble and those two are the perfect targets," he said, smiling evilly.
"And by 'mean people' I assume you're referring to us? I mean if there are any other 'mean people', I guess we'll be killing more than two kiddies."
"Well, I sure hope that's the case. But I doubt that. Besides, we're not allowed to kill anyone that we're not ordered to. And it's not time to kill those two yet. Does that suck or does that suck?," he asked angrily.
"Hey at least we can have the rest of the day off after we're done today."
"Yeah, I guess so. But how much longer will this job take?!"
Job? When you've killed as many people as we have, it's no longer just a job. It's a habit. Or maybe it's more like an involuntary action--something you can't control. I was betting on the latter.
When did killing become my life? I sighed.
I shook my head sadly, trying to block out my partner's ranting. He really didn't know when to shut up.
I let my gaze drift back to the boy and the girl, who now seemed to be arguing. The girl ran into the boy, slamming him against a tree. The boy shook this off and marched angrily back to the girl only to get kneed in the stomach. Ouch. Suddenly he...disappeared? He reappeared behind the girl and slammed her into a tree, causing it to shake like crazy. Since when could Lower Class do that? Since when could anyone do that?
But while I do enjoy a couple fighting--not--where was the blood and guts? I decided that this was getting boring. Time to go.
I stood up, since I was sitting on the ground, and dusted off my clothes to make sure my pants didn't look like they had been crapped in.
I turned and headed for the market, but stopped when I noticed that my partner wasn't following me.
I sighed and closed my eyes, trying not to get too angry. "Come on Archie," I called over my shoulder, using the nickname that Parmida gave him.
I didn't hear him moving. I called for him again.
Come on you diot. Don't make me hurt you.
When I still didn't hear him, I turned around and spotted him on a tree branch. His back was against the tree trunk so I couldn't see the bastard's face and his legs were dangling over each side of the branch.
He looked like he did whenever he had too much to drink.
I clenched my teeth together, trying to remain calm and called for him again. He remained still.
I felt a familiar blue energy envelop me, enabling me to move faster.
I raced toward him, ready to knock him out of the tree, but the sight I was met with made me want to puke.
There he was. Slumped on a tree branch. An arrow pierced through his head. Another arrow, through his heart.
And next to him, on the tree's trunk, were the letters 'PK' carved with what seemed to be the bloody tip of an arrow.
This wasn't possible...
This wasn't supposed to happen.
