[Stories] The Love That Shouldn't Be Part 1
When God knocks on your door, you let him in. When natures calls, answer it. When an opportunity passes you by, pursue it. Is love the same? Most would reply yes. But there are times when love should never be. I will tell you a story about 2 who fell in love, when they should not have.
Aiden Mitzuki was a young man, age 20, who was a member of the Royal Army. It's no different from the Field Army; really, he just had to do less, since his only duty was to patrol the castle- among another 250 masterful guards. It was a boring job, he had to admit, but it paid well and gave him excellent fighting skills incase he ever actually needed it. As if he would be so lucky to have such excitement, he thought. The biggest thing to happen in his time as a guard was a common theif trying to scale a wall at night in between shifts. He wasn't nearly fast enough and was caught by the new guards. He was in a rut. He would spend 5 hours here, brief lunch, another 5 hours then he would go home to no one. He would eat, sleep, and come back to the castle. He'd done this for years and will for years to come. Family had long since died or moved away, the only real company he had were a few friends he made as a guard.
He came to the end of his shift. He went home for yet another night of nothing. He slipped into his casual clothing and started a fire so he could cook some food. He sat down and while waiting for the fire to start up, he noticed a cat in the door. He smiled and walked to it. He was surprised it didn't run. He pets it a bit then tried to pick it up. It let him, and he enjoyed its company for a bit. Could it be a stray? He couldn't very well set it out at this time by itself, with all the crooks that lurk the night. He sighed, and went to extinguish his small dinner fire. Food would have to wait until he found this cat a home, since he couldn't take care of it. He set out into the chilling night, wrapping the cat in his coat. Its fur was soft to the touch, and it purred loudly as they walked along a row of homes.

In another part of town, Naomi Bayfield was living out another boring life, watching the stars as she often found herself doing. She lived with her mother and grandmother. Her family had a history with the Royals. Her great grandfather once attempted to take down some of the King's guards after seeing them take in one of his friends on a false accusation. He was beaten and arrested, as well as her Father who had been accused for a murder in the King's ranks for no more reason than being related to that man. She hadn't been there to see Her great grandfather, but she had watched her father's arrest from start to finish, about 7 years ago. Naomi hated them. They had no care. Sometimes she just wanted to kick each one of them in the-
"Naomi!" her grandmother called for her.
"Yes?" she replied.
"Can you please ask the Merchant for milk, salt and some bread? We will need it for supper" She said. "The money you will need is on the small table near the table."
"Yes grandmother, I'll be back shortly.."
Well, it wasn't ideal, but it was a way to get out of the house wasn't it? It was better than just sitting around staring at the sky. Along the dark, quiet streets of Nudigal, she could just think and escape the stale scent of old smoke that refused to leave the house. Naomi walked along and in the distance, made out the small set up of the Merchant's small store. She was just a hundred or two feet from the spot when she was suddenly grabbed from behind. Before she could call out, a cloth gag was put over here mouth to muffle her speech. The unknown mugger barked an order to an unseen second mugger and he started to look through her pocket. He pulled out her money, laughed quietly and put in his own pocket. The first one spoke.
"Well, looks like the pretty one's packing some money!" He said quietly. "Let's see it-" the second showed off his findings- "Well, looks to be able 300 silvers, not bad. What else can you do for us?" He said, making a motion to his assistant. He stood in front of Naomi with this goofy look on him. He reached like he was going to- oh my god, he was! Naomi started to kick and scream angry, muffled screams. Her cries went unheard, too muffled to be heard by anyone.
Aiden had gone to at least 3 dozen houses nearby and not one of them owned the cat. He would look another dozen, but then he'd have to be done for the night. As he walked along, he heard some kind of struggle going on a small distance ahead. As a guard, he instinctively headed off to see what the matter was. He got closer and heard someone say a few words: "You're a fiecty (sp.?) one aren't you?" The voice said. He set the cat down, hoping it would run away, and approached the area where the commotion was coming from. He made out through the darkness 2 men and a younger woman- not fully clothed. He knew exactly what was going on: a rape attempt. He charged at the smaller one, the one doing the strping, and tore him off the girl. the small man got up, but got got a punch across the face that would knock out a bear. The second man let go of the girl and pulled out a knife.
"You wanna mess with us?" He said, approaching Aiden. He attacked a few times, easily dodged. Aiden dove in and nailed him a hard one in the gut, then an uppercut to the jaw. The man was down and Aiden approached the girl, who had fixed her clothing by now.
"Are you ok?" He asked.
"Yes, thank you so much!" Naomi replied.
Just then, the Knifer came to. He almost cut him deep, but Aiden had heard him get up and rammed his elbow into his gut. Grabbing him first by the neck then the waist, Aiden delivered the finishing move by flipping the Knifer over his head and dropping him on the ground like a stone. He was out cold.
He took a second to catch his breathe, then turn to the girl he had saved.
"that was amazing! I've never seen someone fight that well!" She said excitedly.
"Well, I guess I have a bit of a talent for fighting. After all, you've got to be good at it if y-" He interrupted himself. "The cat!" he said aloud
Naomi looked confused. "What cat?"
"I found a cat, I was looking his home. So far, I can't find it" He started looking about.
"Would that be it there?" Naomi pointed to it about a dozen feet behind Aiden.
"There you are!" He said, as he walked over and picked it up.
"Thanks again, so much for helping me. I wish I had something to give you in return for this, but all I have is my grocery (sp.?) money..."
"It's alright; it's sort of what I do." Aiden replied. "Erm, hey, if there were those two out here, no ones stopping more from coming, so maybe you'll want an escort home?" Aiden offered.
"...yes, thank you. I'd like that" Naomi replied, smiling.
After buying her groceries, Naomi and Aiden walked back to Naomi's home.
"This is it, then, my house..." Naomi said. "thanks again for everything, Mr.-?"
"Aiden. Aiden Mitzuki. Just call me Aiden." He said, smiling a bit.
"Well then, Aiden. my name is Naomi. Naomi Bayfield" She replied.
"Naomi...a pretty name...for a pretty girl..." he said quietly, looking away.
"Hm? I didn't catch that"
"Oh, um nothing. So anyway, be safe, and I hope I see you again sometime." Aiden said.
"Likewise, goodbye." Naomi said, going in her home.
Naomi. For an hour now, Aiden lay in his bed thinking about that name. Naomi. He couldn't get her out of his head. He hoped to find her again. She really was a beautiful girl, and he did sort of owe her silent thanks for putting an actual event into his life. He looked over to Spot, the cat. He had really taken a liking to him after Him shared a dinner with him. He began to wonder; did he find love? Oh, that couldn't be. He had leaded a pretty lonely life, so to say, and this feeling might just be normal for someone who had a life like his. Still, he couldn't ignore this feeling that he had to see her again. Talk to her again...
